Loess Tableland,the World’s Biggest Plateau
Loess Tableland is the largest plateau in the world. It located in the northern part of central China, including the area of western Taihang Mountains, northern Qinling Mountain, eastern Wushaoling Mountain and the vast areas of southern part of the Great Wall. Acrossing Shanxi, Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia and Henan provinces, an area of about 40 million square kilometers, 1,500 to 2,000 meters above the sea level.
Apart from a few rocky mountains, the plateau is covered with a deep layer of loess, thickness of the loess is between 50 ~ 80 meters, and the thickest part is up to 150 ~ 180 meters. The loess is soft and rich in mineral materials. In the basin and valley land is good for farming and there has a long history of farming. It is the cradle of ancient Chinese culture. The most famous scenic spot is cave-house in Loess Tableland. It contains a lot of deep culture. In the cave-houses, there are many pictures on the wall, these pictures are not only beautiful but also easily keep the house and furniture clean. It is one of the special scenes in Loess Tableland.
The Loess Tableland and the Yellow River are the origin place of Chinese nations. For thousands of years, these place keep providing countless power of development for Chinese people.
